Become a Trustee

Location: Board meetings held in Rotherham and Barnsley (with hybrid attendance options available where appropriate)
Responsible to: Chair of the Board of Trustees
Role Type: Voluntary (unpaid)
Time Commitment: Approximately 6–12 days per year, including Board meetings, sub-committees and strategic development sessions
Expenses: Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed in line with policy

Rotherham & Barnsley Mind is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the future of mental health support across Rotherham and Barnsley.

As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in providing strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and supporting the organisation to achieve its vision and objectives. Working alongside fellow Trustees and the Executive Leadership Team, you will help oversee the charity’s performance, sustainability, and long-term development.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who bring diverse experiences, perspectives and professional expertise, alongside a commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing within our communities.

Previous trustee experience is not required. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds who can demonstrate sound judgement, a willingness to contribute strategically, and a passion for supporting the work of Rotherham & Barnsley Mind.

Volunteer Receptionist / Administration Support

(May be required to work at other RB Mind locations occasionally)

Rotherham & Barnsley Mind are seeking a Receptionist / Administration Support Volunteer to provide a friendly, professional front‑of‑house service at our Rotherham office.

This is a key volunteer role within the organisation. As the first point of contact, you will help create a welcoming, calm and supportive environment for people accessing our mental health services, as well as staff, volunteers and visitors.

The role also includes a range of general administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the organisation. We are looking for a reliable and flexible volunteer who enjoys working with people and supporting a busy office environment.
