Couples therapy is offered to support people in relationships who may be considering separation or seeking improved intimacy and understanding. In couple’s therapy, the relationship is the focus, although each partner should also expect to focus on self-improvement and self-awareness.

Successful therapy depends on each partner’s motivation and dedication to the process, and couples can expect to become better listeners and communicators and to find new ways to support one another. Goals will be established by the couple under the guidance of the therapist, and in order to achieve these objectives, each partner must be prepared to acknowledge and understand his or her role in the relationship.

How our couples therapy works

Firstly our therapist will meet with both people in the relationship together to conduct an initial assessment and find out how we can support you best. This usually lasts for around 90 minutes.

They will then book an individual meeting with each person of the relationship where you will attend alone and lasts for around 80 minutes.

You will then meet on a weekly basis together with your partner which usually lasts between 60 and 80 minutes for 6 weeks. At this point the therapist will advise if further sessions are recommended.

Cost

To provide you with the highest quality support possible and to allow us to plan the time required for your support we ask for an initial deposit of £180 which will secure your therapist for your initial joint session and 2 further individual sessions. Thereafter each session is charged at £55. Payment needs to be made in advance to secure your therapist and room.
